CJK言語の漢字の複数の文字セットを 1 つの統一された文字セットにマッピングするするという (Han Unification)、あまり良くない決定がされてしまったためややこしくなってる。
日本では漢字が持つ文化的な意味や歴史的な背景が重視されており、Unicodeにおける統一がこれを損なう可能性はもちろん指摘されています。例えば、JEIDAが1993年に”未来の文字コード体系に私達は不安をもっています”というパンフレットを発行したこともある。
これに関してはwebだったらそこまで対応難しくない。
